Special Olympics Night at GW Women’s Basketball Game

On Saturday night, it was Special Olympics Night at the women’s basketball game and all athletes who are not in season and therefore not traveling were asked to attend. At the game, GW athletes were paired up with a Special Olympics athlete to sit with at the game and spend time with. Since there were more GW athletes in attendance than Special Olympics athletes, I unfortunately was not paired up with one of them. But those that I talked to who did have to opportunity to watch the game with one of the athletes, said it was really fun and enjoyable.

Then, during halftime, two Special Olympics basketballs teams (which I forgot the names of, but I think one was named the Timberwolves or something like that) played a 10 minute game. It was exciting to watch and the teams were good, causing the crowd to continuously cheer.

The entire game was really enjoyable and they should definitely hold more of these special events. Those are the best games to attend in my opinion.
