Ice Skating!

Roughly two weeks ago, I went ice skating with four of my friends at the National Gallery of Art Sculpture Gardens. We went on a Sunday from 5-7pm. For a total of $9 ($6 admission for students + $3 for rental skates), we were allowed to skate for 2 hours. Even though I am not a good skater by any means since I haven’t skated in about 10 years or so, it was still really fun. But, I did not fall at all! I was so happy, since people were dropping onto the ice like crazy. The skills of the people on the ice varied greatly. There were a few zipping around the rink and skating backwards like it was nothing and there were people who never let go of the side railing.

The weather was approx. 58 degrees, which made it wonderful. Granted, it was an odd temperature for ice skating (usually quite cold), but it was cold enough with the ice to wear gloves and a sweatshirt while still not being absolutely freezing.

On Fridays and Saturdays, the rink is open from 10am to 11pm, on Sundays from 11am to 9pm, and Monday through Thursday from 10am to 9pm. Admission cost is as follows: $7 Adults, $6 Seniors, Students, and Children under 12. If you don’t have your own skates, rental skates are only $3 and you can rent a locker to hold your stuff for only 50 cents.
