Freshman Residence Halls, Part One

In response to an email asking about the different freshmen residence halls, I thought I would, instead of trying to verbally describe them, give some of my froshie friends incentive to clean their rooms and then take pictures for your viewing pleasure. I know when I was deciding between schools, taking a look at where I could be living for 9 months was a top priority, so hopefully this helps some of you admitted freshmen out :)

First up, Madison Hall!
Home to 200-ish freshmen, including freshmen on the volleyball, softball, and gymnastics teams. As such, this week the generous froshie giving us a peek at her room is my very own sister, Christie! She has a double in Madison.

Thanks Christie!

Madison Hall, centrally located across the street from Gelman Library, Kogan Plaza, and the Academic Center (classrooms and home of the Columbian College) and one block from Marvin Center.

Here's the floor plan for her tier in Madison.

Entering room from hall... each room has a mini-fridge and microwave provided by the university....

... each resident gets a bed, desk, chair......

... and a dresser (although, if you ask me, a Packer flag should also be standard issue)....

... they got very lucky with a walk-in closet....

.... view from Christie's side of room....

... and the bathroom.

And here's some of the rest of the building....

... Madison lobby...

... Each floor has a small kitchen for residents to use...

... and the lower level has a tv room...

... and study area for residents.

Most (80%) of the rooms in Madison are doubles, set-up much the same as Christie's, and the other 20% are quads. Every room has its own bathroom, and if you are lucky, some of the quads are equipped with kitchens (and dishwashers!!!). Here is a link to the different floor plans available in Madison.

Well, that's it for Madison. Other freshmen residence halls coming soon!

  2. Thank you so much! This is so helpful! I'm applying for housing right now, and I wasn't able to visit all the dorms during my visit to GW. So this will be a big help. Please do Thurston next!
