A bit pathetic of me, but I really only use friend-visits as reasons to visit all the cool places in the city that I rarely go to. I've been better with that in the summer, but luckily I've also had so many visitors that I rarely get a chance to go out and explore between visits anyway!
This time around, I have a friend visiting who is already a GW student, so seeing the city with her is a bit different. She's already lived here for two years as I have, so we want to do really different stuff with few touristy things between. (I said few, not zero, though.)
So yesterday, we decided to check out some of the vintage clothing stores in the U Street Corridor--and we found some diamonds in the rough, let me tell you! Me, her, and my roommate all got a dress each, and my bud also got a purse. Here are the stores we stopped into and loved:
Dr. K's Vintage
1534 U ST, NW
MATCH Boutique
1526 U ST, NW
Junction
1510 U ST, NW
Rock it Again
1528 U ST, NW
DC Stem
1412 U ST, NW
A few of these weren't vintage but boutiquey all the same, and they were all really, really fun to hang around in and delve through. None were particularly big stores, but they were all packed with stuff to sift through and find treasures in! I'm not a big shopper, I'm usually the type that prefers to get in, get what I need, and leave ASAP, but I actually had a lot of fun rifling through all their wares. See for yourself!
